So what’s this sustainability thing that we’ve been talking about? Why now? What does it mean to us? What does it mean to ALL of us?

Well.. Basically my perception to the matter is that the world need a change, a MASSIVE change. There’s a problem and what do exactly we need to do? It may sound a little bit harsh, but is it the end of the good time? It seems that all these times we’ve spent with this earth, we’ve not treated it as we should. Maybe I’m not one of those experts who’ve done much on it. And I don’t know as much as them either, but one thing I know is that we can do something about this.

‘Green’ design? I think that’s the call that every designer must decide. What do we actually want to achieve and what can we actually do, given our role and ’skills’ that we have in the society?

Hi all! Welcome to my blog. This is the first blog, so please enjoy..

My name is Mario Djuhadi and I’m currently completing my Bachelor of Design (Multimedia Design) (Honours) in Swinburne University. I spent the whole last year working at a multimedia company called The Egg, which was a very valuable time. I’m planning to take on my design further and further and I’m looking forward to getting this degree.

In this honours, we’ve been looking at the sustainability issue which is pretty interesting in terms of its scope, but also very important in terms of its urgency, I guess. So this blog will keep the track of what we’ve been doing and hopefully it can become a very good source of information as well.

Designers are distinctive from the others. Why? Because they have the ’skills’ to make a change. This image represents the fact that designers can do more for the world as a whole. They have the ability to design a new ’system’ which can ‘move’ the society to the the right direction where they should be. The bottom line is, who would do it if it’s not the designers? We wouldn’t expect a doctor, or a policeman, or those who don’t have the skills to do it, would we?
